The figure in La Distribution de Grains-Esquisse relates closely to two other drawings by Millet: La maison du puits a Gruchy, pastel, in the collection of the Musee Fabre in Montpellier and Maison au puits a Gruchy, 1863, pastel and crayon, which is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
